Tell us about venues where you’d like to see Woody Russell perform. Then, if possible, tell those good people that work at those venues to check out www.woodyrussell.com! Your enthusiasm will go a long way toward sparking their interest and leaving a positive first impression of WR. If you have any friends employed by radio stations or local press (i.e.; newspapers, music and/or arts and entertainment publications) suggest to them that they consider reviewing the latest CD, Time To Go. We’d be glad to send them a press kit.
Or if you’d like to just send us the raw information about a club, radio station or publication in your area that you feel would be appropriate (name of venue/publication or station I.D. letters and numbers), contact us at the following link.
Venues? Radio? Local press? Tell us about it here.
Host a House Concert! These are quickly becoming a favorite way to see live music these days. You and your friends find a suitable ‘living room’ and host your own concert. If you like your listening experience intimate…well, it doesn't get any more intimate than this. Start off with a potluck, wine-tasting, etc. and then the entertainment follows. This is really at the heart of grass-roots promotion for independent artists. There are many serious music fans who have created small nightclub atmospheres in their own homes, or even outdoor concert style venues in their backyards that host a seasonal concert series every year with great success. If you know someone in your area that hosts a house concert series, share your enthusiasm about Woody Russell with them and send us the contact information at the following link.
House concerts? Sure. Let us know about it here.
Volunteer to hang posters & spread the word if you notice that Woody is coming to town. Despite what many people may think, it is difficult for bands to draw an audience in a new town where the artist is not well known. PLUS, we'll send you a FREE CD when you offer your kind assistance!
GIVE THE GIFT OF MUSIC! Buy a CD and pass it along to someone you love (or someone you don't). This is the easiest thing to do. It spreads the word about Woody Russell as fast as anything can and, in all honesty, helps promote the music in the best possible way. From friend to friend, one set of ears to another, one new fan at a time.
If you’ve read this far, then you must be a hardcore fan! I’m very happy and honored that you’ve taken the time to read about how you can help with promoting independent music, like mine, to the world. You, the music lover, are at the very heart of what helps “indie” artists gain career momentum and public visibility. The major labels and their artists do, from time to time, deliver some quality music. But, you know as a music fan, so many unrecognized and talented artists create powerful, evocative work that never reaches the mainstream public. This is simply due to the major label machinery that largely controls the market. Well, recently the indie spirit has begun to prevail; independent musicians are attaining greater publicity and much deserved sales thanks to devoted fans who spread the word. The tables are turning as larger shares of the music buying public are aiming their sights toward the vast sources of independent music which are more and more readily available to them as music consumers. It can’t be done without you. If you like my music, share it with someone. Tell them about this web site. When I’m in your town playing a show please introduce yourself so I can thank you in person.
